Although I suspect that many of the folks who work on the Linux kernel have an agenda as well. Or at least their employers do - promote some features / standards / compatabilities over others. While the people getting paid to Linux are probably doing it so they can make something work, those who get paid to write wikipedia probably have an agenda to promote. I'd wager that the difference that makes down the line in terms of how the paid person accepts, blocks, and/or does battle with the contributions of others is pretty big.
