Microsoft has started this new conference, Ethnographic Praxis in Industry Conference (EPIC). According to Microsoft:
This conference aims to bring together people who are actively thinking about the theoretical and methodological development of ethnography in industry practice. We want to draw participants who are both working in industry, as well as those who consult or collaborate with industry. We are aiming to create a collaborative venue where those practicing their ethnographic training in the corporate setting can benefit from mutual support and sharing information. So please join us this year in Redmond as we explore the theme of Sociality.
Note that the deadline for paper submission is June 17th. Microsoft seems to be nurturing an ongoing interest in anthropology and ethnography, as evidenced by this recent Fortune cover. (I'm not sure if they meant this to be ironic, but, oh boy.)
